One position is a single data print from clarity
Today's market and our positions
TEAM is doing the heavy lifting — and it's been doing it for a while. Three separate entries — days 19, 40, and 41 — are all sitting between +15% and +20% against SPY gains of basically nothing over the same windows. That's the Relative Strength Engine doing exactly what it's built to do: find names that don't care what SPY is doing, and stay with them long enough to matter. SPY itself closed up +0.49% today to around $766.96. Fine. Unremarkable. The portfolio didn't need it to be anything more than that.
What our open trades are doing
Let's go name by name. TEAM (days 19, 40, 41): Current price $214.75. All three entries were in the $179–$186 range, which puts us at +15% to +19% across the board while SPY went almost nowhere over those same windows. This is the position we're watching most carefully — not because anything's wrong, but because gains this extended deserve respect. You don't ignore a winner just because it keeps winning. HURN (day 21): Entry $158.90, now $174.72, up about +10% with SPY up just +0.30% over the same stretch. Solid. Quiet. Doing exactly what a well-placed position should do. HTFL (days 1, 7, 8, 20): Four entries stacked between $50.35 and $50.70, all trading around $51.02 now. The price gains are modest — +0.6% to +1.3% — but two of those entries are already beating SPY by more than 2 percentage points individually. Still early. Room to develop. RNG (days 12, 13): Two entries at $77.42 and $77.88, now at $79.19. Up roughly +1.7% and +2.3%, both against negative SPY periods. Quiet alpha from newer positions — exactly what we're looking for at this stage. CRNX (14 open positions, days 50–76): Here's the awkward part. All 14 CRNX positions are showing +0.00% price movement — entry price equals current price across the board. The alpha is positive on most of them, since SPY has been negative over several of those windows, but the stock itself hasn't moved. At all. That's unusual even for a slow mover, and it's not something we're willing to just scroll past. We'll be checking tomorrow's open print closely to confirm the data is clean and the position is behaving normally.
Today's closed trades, post-mortem
No trades closed today. Nothing to post-mortem. The portfolio sat with its open positions and let them work — which, on a low-volatility day like this one, is exactly the right behavior. Sometimes the best move is no move at all.
What could change by tomorrow's open
The CRNX situation is the main flag going into tomorrow. Fourteen positions all showing exactly $0.00 price change is worth a hard look at the open. It's probably a data artifact — but if CRNX has been drifting lower intraday and snapping back to close flat, that's a very different story than 'stock didn't move.' Tomorrow's first print will tell us which one it is. TEAM is the other name on the watch list. Not because it's in trouble — it isn't — but because +19% gains attract attention, and stocks that attract attention can turn volatile fast. Our stops exist for exactly this kind of situation. SPY's gentle +0.49% close doesn't point clearly in any direction for tomorrow. The macro calendar is light, but light calendars have a way of not staying that way.
What we're watching tomorrow
Tomorrow morning, the engines run their full scan. With TEAM this extended, I'll be watching whether any of those three positions trigger a tightened stop signal — or whether the Relative Strength Engine sees enough continued momentum to hold the line. Either way, we'll also get a clean open print on CRNX. That alone should answer a lot of questions.
