Why tomorrow morning could reset this trade book

One stop hit, two names in drawdown, and the open book still carrying the weight.

Today's market and our positions

SPY dropped 1.11% today and closed around $769.38. Not a great tape. The kind of session where the only job is keeping winners alive and not letting losers bleed further. For the most part, that held — though ASST had other ideas. Day 73 of this experiment and we're sitting at +3.6% on the system versus +0.0% for SPY over the same window. That's the entire alpha story in one line. Win rate on closed trades is still 0%, which sounds alarming until you look at the open book doing the actual work. Right now, TEAM and HURN are the ones keeping this thing in the black.

What our open trades are doing

CRNX did something almost strange today: 14 open positions, every single one printing +0.00%. The stock simply didn't move. Against a -1.11% SPY tape, flat is quietly fine — most of those positions are showing positive alpha just by refusing to go anywhere. The Relative Strength Engine has been accumulating CRNX since day 71, and the thesis hasn't shifted. It's a hold. Nothing to do. TEAM is the book's anchor right now. Three positions open: day 36 at +13.81%, day 35 at +12.68%, day 14 at +9.87%. The Relative Strength Engine added these at slightly different entries — $179.86, $181.65, $186.31 — and all three are sitting above $204. That's a clean spread across the board. The stock is pulling its weight on a day when most names weren't. HURN (day 16) is up +10.29% from a $158.90 entry, now at $175.25. Another Relative Strength Engine name doing exactly what the engine expected — quiet, steady, and outperforming without making any noise about it. HTFL is the one we're watching more carefully. Three positions — days 2, 3, and 15 — are all in the red, ranging from -1.77% to -2.45%. Against today's tape that's slightly underperforming, not catastrophic. But the stock is sitting below all three entries. It hasn't tripped a stop yet, and if tomorrow opens strong, this may be a non-event. If it doesn't, HTFL moves to the front of the watchlist. RNG is in a similar spot. Days 7 and 8, both down somewhere between 2.9% and 3.4%. The Relative Strength Engine flagged this one and it hasn't found a bid since. Not stopped out — but not contributing either.

Today's closed trades, post-mortem

ASST closed today. Here's the honest post-mortem: 6-day hold, entered at $28.99, stopped out at $26.00. That's -10.31% on the position against SPY -1.15% over the same window, putting alpha at -9.16%. The Relative Strength Engine picked it up and it never found its footing — not even for a day. Stop hit, position closed. That makes this the 24th closed trade and win rate is 0/24. That number still looks rough standing alone. But the open book is positive and system alpha sits at +3.6%, so we're not digging out of a hole — the closed trades just haven't been the source of gains yet. Worth saying clearly rather than burying.

What could change by tomorrow's open

The soft spots heading into tomorrow's open are HTFL and RNG. Both are in drawdown, neither has hit a stop yet, and a weak open could push one or both over the line. If SPY gaps down again, we could see more stop activity before the morning is out. The CRNX block is the other variable worth watching — 14 positions and a stock that hasn't moved in days. Flat is fine, until it becomes a slide. Any meaningful break lower there would ripple across a lot of lines at once. Watch the open closely.

What we're watching tomorrow

Tomorrow the engines run fresh scans on a market that just posted a -1.11% session. That's usually where the Relative Strength Engine earns its keep — surfacing names that held their ground while everything else gave way. The question worth sitting with tonight: do TEAM and HURN show up in the morning data as relative leaders again, or does something new come through the scan? We'll find out at the open.
