What the system saw

While most of the market has been going nowhere, ASST has been quietly outpacing nearly everything in it. Over the last 63 days, it's ranked in the 98.5th percentile for relative strength — a top 1.5% name by that measure. And today, instead of breaking down, it bounced. The prior close was $28.23. This morning's low touched $28.37. By the time the signal triggered, price had reclaimed $29.12 — exactly where the 20-day moving average sits. That's a 3.2% reclaim off the low in a session where SPY basically did nothing. The setup is clean on paper: the strongest name in the room just found its footing at a logical level.

Why our Relative Strength Engine liked it

The Relative Strength Engine doesn't chase breakouts. It looks for names that have already proven they can lead — then waits for a pullback to a logical support level before flagging an entry. The reasoning is straightforward: the strongest stocks tend to stay strong, and a dip to the 20-day moving average in a top-decile RS name is often consolidation, not distribution. What matters now is whether ASST can hold this reclaim and keep building on the trend that put it in the top 1.5% of the market to begin with. One thing worth naming upfront: the fundamentals here are genuinely rough. Negative net margins well over 100%, a Piotroski F-Score of 2 out of 9, negative ROE. This is a loss-making company. But relative strength signals are price-action plays — they don't need a great balance sheet, just a stock that's acting better than everything else. Analyst consensus sits at Buy with an average target of $33.33, which lands close to where our system's own target sits. That alignment isn't the thesis — it's just a note worth keeping.

The trade plan

The Relative Strength Engine entered ASST at $29.12. The stop sits at $26.75 — $2.38 of risk per share. The system's 2R target is $33.88, which roughly aligns with the analyst average. We're putting $5,212 behind this one in the paper account, sized at 179 shares. If the stop triggers, the loss is contained. If price reaches the target, the gain is roughly double the risk. That's the math the engine runs on — and it doesn't move the goalposts once the trade is live.

Position size: our paper account is putting about $5,212 (179 shares) into this trade, sized to risk roughly $424 if our stop is hit. This is what the system committed in its paper account — not a suggestion of how much you should put into any trade.

What could go wrong

This one comes with some flags worth looking at directly. Volume dried up on today's signal — the volume dryup component scored zero, meaning there wasn't the kind of confirming accumulation that makes a bounce feel clean. The 'held support' component also scored zero, so the 20-day moving average isn't a battle-tested floor here. It's a first touch. On the fundamental side, this is a company burning cash. If sentiment turns on unprofitable small caps, ASST won't have earnings to cushion the fall. The stop at $26.75 is the hard line. Our system respects it regardless of how the thesis looks on any given day — and so do we.

One more thought before we go

We're 69 days into running this publicly. Win rate is still 0% on closed trades — all 23 closed positions have yet to book a winner on paper. The open book looks better: TEAM is up over 13% on the longest leg, HURN is sitting at +4%. ASST is the newest name in the mix. Whether it holds that 20-day moving average or gives it back in the next session will tell us a lot — about whether the RS signal had real conviction here, or just caught a dead-cat bounce on a slow tape.
