The relative strength signal most traders missed today

One software name just reclaimed a key level — and our engine's conviction score is telling.

What the system saw

TEAM did something quiet but specific today: it bounced off its 20-day moving average and clawed back nearly 4% from yesterday's close in a single session. That's not noise. The Relative Strength Engine flagged it with an 83.2 conviction score — and the RS percentile behind that score is 97.5 out of 63 trading days. Put another way, TEAM has been outperforming roughly 97% of everything else the system tracks over the past three months. That kind of relative strength doesn't usually fade quietly. It's one of the more durable edges the system hunts for.

Why our Relative Strength Engine liked it

The setup combines two things that rarely arrive together: a stock that's been leading the tape, pulling back just enough to touch the 20-day, then reclaiming it with conviction. That 20-day is sitting around $186.75 — TEAM closed a hair below it before today's move. The reclaim is the trigger. What makes it cleaner is what happened during the pullback: volume dried up. Sellers lost conviction before buyers had to step up. That's the pattern the system wants to see. On the fundamentals side, TEAM is a story-stock priced for what's coming, not what's here. Net margins are negative, ROIC is negative, and a DCF model puts fair value well below the current price. None of that is unusual for a high-growth software company, but it's worth knowing going in. Analysts carry a consensus Buy with an average target around $191 — essentially where the stock is trading now. The Altman Z-Score of 5.1 signals no near-term financial distress. The revenue trend is the real argument: $4.4B to $5.2B to $6.6B over three annual periods, with EPS losses narrowing fast. The price action is simply reflecting that trajectory.

The trade plan

The Relative Strength Engine entered TEAM at $186.26. The stop sits at $173.25 — that's $13.01 below entry, the risk per share. The system's 2R target is $212.28. We're putting about $5,215 behind this one, which works out to 28 shares in the paper account. Worth noting: this is our third TEAM entry — we're already carrying positions from day 22 and day 21, both slightly underwater. The system isn't chasing something new here. It's doubling down on a thesis it already holds, using the 20-day reclaim as a fresh, defined level to lean against.

Position size: our paper account is putting about $5,215 (28 shares) into this trade, sized to risk roughly $364 if our stop is hit. This is what the system committed in its paper account — not a suggestion of how much you should put into any trade.

What could go wrong

The valuation is the obvious one. TEAM is priced at a multiple that leaves no margin for execution misses — if revenue growth slows or margins don't improve on schedule, this stock can reprice hard and fast. The stop at $173.25 is there for exactly that reason: if the 20-day breaks and stays broken, we're out. On top of that, we're already carrying two TEAM positions in the red, so this entry adds real concentration risk. The broader market isn't offering much cover either — SPY finished essentially flat on the day. Not a headwind, but nothing to lean on.

One more thought before we go

Sixty-three days into tracking this system, and the open position list is getting interesting — IOVA up 81.8%, TWST up 42.3%, a wall of CRNX positions quietly grinding, and now TEAM showing up for the third time. The win rate on closed trades is still 0%, which tells you most of the action is still sitting open, unresolved. That's the thing about a momentum system this early in the log: the real verdict is still out there. The question now is whether these leaders keep leading. TEAM's relative strength says yes. The 20-day reclaim gives the system a clean line in the sand — and we'll find out soon enough whether this stock intends to hold it.
