A smarter way to read a stock that keeps coming back

One name just triggered its eighth signal — and the reason the engine keeps buying is worth understanding.

There’s a program with a history of finding stock winners …
On the market’s quietest days. Feb. 18, 2025, was a day of no action.
Yet this algorithm recommended a stock that went up 610%.
Oct. 18, 2021, was another boring day. But this software recommended a 564% winner that day.
April 10, 2023? Another tame day, another big win.790% since then in fact.
So how did it do it?

What the system saw

CRNX keeps showing up on our list — and the Relative Strength Engine keeps raising its hand. We've got seven open positions in it already, and the engine just flagged an eighth entry this morning. That's not a typo. When a name sits in the 96th percentile of relative strength over 63 days and keeps finding buyers at the exact same moving average, the system doesn't shrug and move on. It pays attention. Today's setup is a bounce off the 20-day moving average, currently sitting at $84.05. CRNX touched $84.69 at the low and reclaimed $84.77 into the close — less than a percent above the line, but the point isn't the distance. The point is that it held. Volume dried up into the test, which is exactly what you want to see if you're reading this as a controlled support retest rather than the early stages of a breakdown.

Why our Relative Strength Engine liked it

Sitting in the 96th percentile of relative strength means CRNX has been outrunning 96 out of 100 names over the past three months. That kind of momentum doesn't just evaporate at a round number. It tends to breathe — consolidate, pull back to a moving average — and then keep going. The 20-day is a natural resting point for strong trends, and CRNX has treated it as a floor. One thing worth saying plainly: the fundamentals are not the story here. CRNX is burning cash. Negative earnings, negative margins, a Piotroski F-Score of 2 out of 9 — this is not a value play by any stretch. The analyst consensus says Buy and the average price target sits at $84.86, which at current prices is essentially zero upside on a 12-month basis. The system isn't playing a fundamental rerating. It's playing price action and momentum, and both of those things have been working in this name. We hold both of those ideas in our heads at the same time — the weak fundamentals and the strong tape — and we let the engine decide which one matters right now.

The trade plan

The Relative Strength Engine entered at $84.77. The stop is $83.67, so we're risking $1.10 per share. The 2R target is $86.96 — that's where the system starts looking for the exit. Position size is roughly $5,001, which works out to 59 shares. For context, this is the eighth active CRNX position running across the paper account at various holding periods. The oldest is on day 14 and sitting at +0.9%. Across the board, they're all small gains so far — nothing dramatic. This stock has been grinding, not sprinting. That matters for how we think about what comes next.

Position size: our paper account is putting about $5,001 (59 shares) into this trade, sized to risk roughly $65 if our stop is hit. This is what the system committed in its paper account — not a suggestion of how much you should put into any trade.

What could go wrong

The exit rule here is simple: if CRNX trades below $83.67, the trade is done. Below that level, the 20-day has failed as support and the setup thesis breaks. We don't negotiate with a violated stop. The larger risk is harder to dismiss: position concentration. Running seven to eight entries in the same ticker is unusual even for a system designed to act on multiple independent signals. The paper account treats each engine signal as its own trade — technically correct — but if CRNX has a bad day, it won't be a bad day for one position. It'll be a bad day for the whole portfolio. That's something we're watching closely. One thing working in our favor: the Altman Z-Score of 39.5 suggests no near-term bankruptcy risk, which is at least one fewer thing to lose sleep over with a cash-burning biotech.

One more thought before we go

At day 32, the system is running at +1.2% against SPY's +2.2% over the same window. We're trailing the index, the win rate on closed trades is still at zero, and CRNX is practically its own portfolio inside the portfolio. None of that looks clean on paper. But SNOW is up 20.1% and CORT is up 28.5%, and neither has been stopped out yet. The number that really matters — the one that changes how this whole stretch looks — is whatever prints when those two finally close.
