What the system saw
CUE is the strongest stock we're tracking right now — and that's not a figure of speech. It sits at the 100th percentile of relative strength over the last 63 days. Every other name in our universe is behind it. But the rank alone isn't what flagged this one. It's where the stock found its footing: right on top of its 20-day moving average, bouncing off $27.74 support with barely a tremor. Today's low was $28.39. That's essentially the entry. Price didn't crack the level, didn't gap below it, didn't flush traders out before recovering. It touched, held, and moved on — clean as setups get.
Why our Relative Strength Engine liked it
The Relative Strength Engine hunts for names that are already outrunning the broad market, then waits for them to pull back to a clean technical level before stepping back in. The logic isn't complicated: if a stock is already running harder than its peers, a controlled dip to the 20dma is a gift, not a warning. CUE's reclaim was quiet — almost boring — and that's exactly what we want to see. No drama means no distribution. What's missing is volume dry-up confirmation, which would've pushed conviction higher. That absence is precisely why we're at 57.3/100 and not above 70. We know what we're not getting, and we're pricing it in.
The trade plan
The Relative Strength Engine entered CUE at $28.39. The stop sits at $22.16, putting $6.23 at risk per share. Our system's target is $40.84 — a 2R move from entry. We're putting roughly $4,542 behind this one, which works out to 160 shares in the paper account. One thing worth noting: CUE is already an open position from day 7, currently up 7.2%. Today's entry reflects the system adding to or re-establishing its position at the 20dma touch — the setup qualified fresh on its own terms, independent of what came before.
Position size: our paper account is putting about $4,542 (160 shares) into this trade, sized to risk roughly $997 if our stop is hit. This is what the system committed in its paper account — not a suggestion of how much you should put into any trade.
What could go wrong
The stop at $22.16 is not a suggestion. If CUE loses that level, the thesis goes with it. A 100th-percentile relative strength stock that breaks its 20dma and can't recover isn't a leader taking a breather — it's extended leadership starting to crack, and that's not a position we want to hold. There's no broad tape excuse here either: SPY is essentially flat today, off just 0.04%. If CUE rolls over, it rolls over on its own. The low conviction score — 57.3 — is real and we're not talking around it. This is a clean setup in a strong name, sized for what we actually know, not for what we're hoping.
One more thought before we go
Day 24 of the paper account: the system is up 0.2% while SPY is down 1.4% over the same stretch. That gap matters more than any single trade — including this one. ERNA opened yesterday and is already down 6.9%, a useful reminder that even a 75% win rate means you're wrong one time in four. With CUE, the question that follows us into the next session is straightforward: does top-decile relative strength hold its edge if the tape gets choppy from here?
