Today's market and our positions

ERNA dropped 12.9% on day two. That one sentence defines today. SPY slid a quiet -0.21% and closed near $744.23 — this wasn't a market-wide flush, it was stock-specific pain landing on two of our newer positions at exactly the same time. PIII is also still underwater at -11.2% on day 18. When names bleed that hard while the index barely flinches, the portfolio feels heavier than the numbers let on. Twenty-five days in, the system sits at -0.3% against SPY's -1.5% over the same window. That's +1.2% alpha, and we'll take it — but two of our six open positions are testing our patience right now.

What our open trades are doing

ERNA (Relative Strength Engine, day 2) is the uncomfortable one. It entered at $7.20 and closed today at $6.27 — that's -12.92% in 48 hours, against SPY essentially flat. When a relative-strength pick loses that much that fast, the thesis is under serious pressure. The engine flagged it because it was outrunning its peers; right now it isn't showing that anymore. We're watching it closely. PIII (Relative Strength Engine, day 18) is the slow-grind version of the same story. Entry at $12.81, now $11.37, -11.24% while SPY is only -1.33% over that same stretch. Eighteen days is a long time to hold a name that keeps moving the wrong direction. The alpha gap here is -9.91% — that's not noise, that's real underperformance. On the other side of the ledger: CUE (day 8, Relative Strength Engine) is up 6.92%, from $26.43 to $28.26, with +5.49% alpha. That's exactly what a relative-strength pick is supposed to do — outrun the index when it's working. The newer CUE position (day 1, same engine, different entry at $29.49) is already -4.17%, opened today at $29.49 against today's close of $28.26, with SPY flat on the session. Two entries, same ticker, different places on the curve — it happens. CWAN (Breakout Engine, day 11) is essentially flat. Entry $24.52, now $24.56. Eleven days to go nowhere isn't what we drew it up for, but the setup isn't broken — just slow. ENVA (Breakout Engine, day 3) is -2.07%, from $240.16 to $235.19. Early days, but it's already underperforming SPY by -1.81%. One to keep on the radar.

Today's closed trades, post-mortem

No trades closed today. Nothing to post-mortem. The closed-trade log stays quiet for now — all six positions are still live.

What could change by tomorrow's open

The two names that could force a decision tomorrow are ERNA and PIII. Both are well offside, and if either gaps down at the open, we're in stop-management territory fast. ENVA is only three days in but it's already showing slippage — a continuation lower would put it on the watchlist too. On the positive side, CUE (day 8) is sitting on a gain worth protecting; if the market opens soft, we'll be asking whether that position deserves a tighter trailing stop. SPY isn't in freefall, but it isn't giving us a tailwind either.

What we're watching tomorrow

Tomorrow morning the engines run their full scan. With ERNA and PIII both under pressure, there's a real chance at least one of them triggers an exit before we're even looking at new setups. The more interesting question is whether CUE (day 8) can hold its gain if the tape stays choppy — because right now, that one trade is carrying a lot of the portfolio's alpha on its back.
